Snapchat Stories, Instagram Stories, Messenger Day. One of the largest battles on our mobile devices of this year. Facebook basically has two players in this game but will it still be able to dominate the incumbent, Snap? What is being posted to each has a specific niche per say and overall will determine which will be the ‘winner.’ Maybe the can both coexist. Here are my two cents:
Founded on the basis of the ‘selfie’ and perpetuated forward with the range of facial filters. I’m sure by now you have seen one of your friends with the cute little puppy face filter or flower crowns. From a user interface perspective, I have to say I love the vertical scrolling of the stories, can quickly pick-n-choose who’s to view. Personally, I am a content consumer more than a producer on this platform. Producing a ton of content (when compared to other platforms) was just not a ‘thing’ that captured my attention.
Instagram (owned by Facebook)
“A Picture Worth A Thousand Words,” however with albums being added is quickly being a this-gen Photobucket. The introduction of the stories took a tad to catch-on but I think it did the job to:
- The filters such as locations and ability to directly tag someone within the story is a game-changer
- Stagnate Snapchat growth
Messenger Day (also owned by Facebook)
New feature and early to gauge where or what this one will become. Early adopters are posting everything so hard to define what will be the ‘thing to post.’ The mass amount of users on Messenger will make it a prospective alternative to IG and Snap, especially if you aren’t already on it.
The only way that we will know who comes out will be just to wait it out. I am putting my bets on Facebook’s Messenger and Instagram Stories over Snapchat in the long run. Specifically with Messenger’s close ties to the core Facebook platform, I am looking forward to seeing what future features will be rolled out…such as integration linking to the Facebook Pages that you like?
